THE STORY
OF A BREWER
Our founder, Oli Lemke, welded together his very first brewing kit in a friend’s garage in 1998. Prior to that, he had gained experience all over the world, from large breweries in Venezuela to setting up an entire breweriy in Japan. Armed with this wealth of experience, he came up with the idea of founding his own independent brewery in Berlin.

Behind every Lemke beer are people who love their craft. Our brewers develop new recipes, refine existing beers and train the next generation. They enjoy tasting beers from other breweries and exchanging ideas with them. This has already led to the creation of one or two collaboration beers. Our sales and logistics team gets the beer on its way to your home, to retail outlets in Berlin and to our hospitality partners across the city. What unites us all is curiosity, high standards and a passion for bloody good beer.
Brewing in the Berlin S-Bahn arches
Our brewery is situated in the middle of Berlin, between Hackescher Markt and the TV Tower. Our beers are brewed in eleven historic S-Bahn arches, just a few steps away from our guests. It is a place where our brewing craft meets Berlin’s beer and culinary culture.

Our "founding house" at Hackescher Markt and well known around the area. The history of the Lemke brewery began in these atmospheric railroad viaducts in 1999. We still brew our beer just a few meters from here today. You can expect a relaxed atmosphere, a quiet green beer garden in the courtyard, Berlin cuisine and of course: our beer!

Lemke Brewery is an independent craft brewery in Berlin. Since 1999, we have been brewing right in the heart of the capital for everyone who appreciates really good beer. Experience, skill and passion go into every bottle we produce. We embrace the traditional art of brewing and cherish our Berlin roots, whilst keeping an open mind to the wider world. This is how we create diversity in the glass. One beer style is particularly close to our hearts: the Berliner Weiße. We were one of the first breweries to revive this once world-famous Berlin beer style in its original form, thereby contributing to its renaissance. You can find all our beers in our restaurants, in Berlin shops, in selected specialist beer shops throughout Germany and directly from our online shop.
